I booked two rooms - 1 for my partner and I and the other for my teenage children. Upon arrival there was a confusing conversation regarding payment and recording of my credit card for the rooms (one which had already been paid for). The we were given room keys and the rooms were on different floors. It would seem to me natural for bookings made together to be close in proximity to each other. After depositing luggage in my room I went to check on my children on the other floor. I walked into the room and was immediately struck with the smell of old cigarette smoke. My children had the window open to try to get rid of the smell. I advised reception of the situation and they relocated my children to a different room which was much appreciated, but I am extremely disappointed that this occurred in the first place as I was advised this is a non-smoking establishment. Cleaning staff at the premises should not have allowed the room to be occupied before the previous guests were charged for, and appropriate cleaning measures had taken place. Staff were helpful when it came to booking cabs and general information. Bed and room was comfortable

If you start on foot, the hotel is very well placed and you immediately have a nice footpath directly on the Thames with a view of Westminster and Big Ben. Very pleasant. However, it is a 15 minute walk to the nearest underground station. Hotel is very clean. The breakfast for people with coeliac disease was no problem at all. Gluten-free bread is toasted in the kitchen, and fruit salad and butter also come from the kitchen. The only thing missing was gluten-free products on the snack menu for the evening at the bar. French fries, for example, were not available and not much else apart from fruit salad for coeliac people.

It was okay. I think there are nicer Novotel Hotels with better breakfast choices. Our room was closest to the lifts and since there were gaps on the bottom of door, it was quite noisy. Plus windows are not well insulated as you can hear the conversations from the streets. Shower drainage was slow so it was overflowing. No cream or milk for coffee.
