4 good reasons to hold a seminar at the seaside

Far from being unimportant, the choice of venue plays a vital part in the success of any business-related event. To provide real motivation for your teams, combine business with pleasure by opting for the North Sea coast.

1. Give your staff a truly bracing environment

After an intensive morning of brainstorming, you can’t beat the freedom of breathing in the fresh sea air you only find at the coast. With their brains appropriately re-oxygenated, your employees will be grateful that you opted for such a naturally healthy, restful and enjoyable setting.

2. Encourage team bonding with some sporting activities

Another big benefit of the Belgian and Dutch seaside is that it has such a wide range of physical activities to offer that everyone can join in with. The kind of activities that enable your staff to have fun and unwind between two presentations – while helping them to bond and strengthening your overall team spirit. Need a few ideas? What about simply going for a swim or an introduction to kitesurfing? Or perhaps a beach volleyball tournament or an outing on horseback along the beach? There’s a huge range – and the choice is yours. Or something more ‘out there’? Then try sand yachting on the coast at La Panne or give the latest fashionable seaside sport of wavekarting a go off Cadzand. Wavekarting is all about taking on the waves at top speed with you at the controls of a boat. The kind of jaunt that will get the wind in your hair and give you all something to talk about afterwards!

3. Get in the spirit with some great entertainment

After a busy day of intellectual brain-busting, the North Sea is the ideal place to relax, have fun and surprise your staff, while making your seminar really memorable. Such as? What about going to admire the work of the shrimp-fishers on horseback in Oostduinkerke, or take a water-taxi to Blankenberge, organise an outing by quadracycle along the sea-dike, try your luck at sea-fishing or go seal-watching at Cadzand and Breskens.

4. Reward all that hard work with some delicious local cuisine

Are your employees more used to eating on the hoof? Then don’t forget that working lunches and evening receptions are all part of guaranteeing the success of your event. Plus, of course, the North Sea will get your taste buds tingling with cuisine that makes the most of fresh fish and shellfish: shrimp croquettes, Ostend oysters, salted herring, Zeeland mussels… In a word, something to revitalise everyone taking part before getting back down to the next section of the work schedule!
